Ponomariov the Rook

In the first board played the Former World Champions Rulsan Ponomariov , actually he is more less retired of the competitive chess and lives in the north of spain with his family but he still playing in a great level.
He drew all his games but at the top level the matches use to be winning in the low boards so good job by Rulsan.

Kovalenko Mvp

Best players of each board with Kovalenko and Ihor earning the gold.

Azerbaijan stop them

With 6 victories and 1 draw Ukraine goes to the penultimate round with options of secure the title with one round to spare but a great attack of Mamedov against Volokitin’s najdorf put a tie into the standing only letting one round.
(I analize the Mamedov game in my youtube channel too)

Ihor Samunenkov. Unexpected hero with 16 years.

Serbia vs Azerbaijan and Ukraine vs England to decide the tournament.
Serbia made a favor to Ukraine beating 3-1 Azerbaijan who the last day only Safarli won closing a great personal tournament. Sarana and Indij ends with Boths “Mames” unbeaten tournaments.

So was time for Ukraine to made their part and in the first 3 boards they draw their games and the decisive point came in the 4 board where they are less favorites under the papel but the games goes totally different with Samunekov outplaying Macshane to become European Team Champion with 16 years.
My comments of the game in youtube: Samunenkov Win
